SAE 8620, also known as AISI 8620, is a low-alloy steel that is highly valued for its toughness, strength, and excellent hardenability. SAE 8620 steel typically exhibits a tensile strength range of 530 to 700 MPa (77 to 101 ksi), which can vary depending on the heat treatment. Its yield strength ranges from 370 to 630 MPa (54 to 91 ksi), and elongation is around 15-25% in a normalized or annealed state. The hardness of SAE 8620 after heat treatment generally ranges from 150 to 250 HB (Brinell Hardness), offering a good balance between strength and toughness for various applications.
